The Origin and Design of the BCLEM Emblem
In 2023, the BCLEM Foundation and Committee set out to create its own unique badge to be used as an emblem for all that BCLEM represents.
The project was finalized in 2025 with financial support from the British Columbia Police Association and the Peace and Police Officer’s Memorial Ribbon Society.
Story & Symbolism
The intertwined strands of the Bowen knot allude to the Foundation’s working relationships and the strength of character displayed both by its members and by those officers who are being commemorated.
The design includes the colours of the uniforms worn by municipal police forces, the B.C. Provincial Police which previously patrolled remote communities in the province and the Royal Canadian Mounted police, as well as the gold stripe and/or aiguillette worn on the dress uniforms of police and correctional officers.
